Good evening. My wife's Pay as you Go number has been deactivated because she failed to respond to a 'use it or lose it' message.
We used to add £10 whenever it was needed, which could be only once or twice a year, as she rarely uses it as it's for emergencies .. Does this service still exist, if not what is available? The Vodafone site is not that clear.
If we have to switch to a Pay as you go Plus sim, at £10 every 30 days (not exactly Pay as you Go, more Pay every Thirty Days) does this come with a new phone number?
I've tried the 'Chatbot' and after going around in circles I have a headache, so ant help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

Hi @JPChris. Yes the service still exists that you can just top up and use the phones for emergencies, however, a chargeable call or text needs to be made from the phone once every 180 days for you to the retain the number. You'll be notified at 90 days and then again at 180 days.
If the phone number has been disconnected for less than 90 days, please reach out to the Social Media team, and we should be able to get this reconnected for you both 🙂

Thanks, no idea how long it has been deactivated.
Does a Pay as you Go Plus sim come with a new phone number?

If you pop our team over a message here we can check how long ago the number was disconnected. If you was to order a new SIM, it would come with a new number.

Yes @JPChris although it's difficult to find, PAYG 1 is still available here : PAYG 1
Searching the website for Vodafone PAYG, it does appear that Vodafone are pushing PAYG Plus but this is not the suitable for your Wife when she only needs the phone for emergency use. Although this link Free SIM mentions PAYG Plus and Free SIM, it looks misleading and you should still be able to active the SIM for PAYG 1 use.
Before topping up it is recommended to opt out of Big Value Bundles otherwise Vodafone will take your credit for a monthly BVB bundle and this won't be something your Wife will want or need, this can be completed by dialing 2345 from the phone and by following this link Remove Big Value Bundle There is further information here Activate Free SIM
Hope the above helps your Wife.

Thanks Ann, I've ordered a PAYP Plus sim and will choose a plan for her. We are keeping the landline for incoming only and will change to using mobiles for all outward calls, so at least these will be free. At present paying BT nearly £10 a month to cover anytime calls so a £10 PAYG plus sim is no different.
