WiFi calling on Samsung S8

Vodafone announced WiFi calling is now available on my payg Samsung S8 and it's turned on in my account. But the option is not showing up in the settings on the phone, a Samsung S8 running Android 9. Any ideas? Network mode is set to 2G/3G/4G auto connect. This is the only option with 4G. No 4GLTE. VoLTE calls is on.

Well if that's the case that's certainly a welcome addition for payg users especially as the Sure Signal devices have been fazed out.

I would suggest to speak with Live Chat or call customer services on 191 and ask them to send an OTA configuration.

Some further possible help.

Text the word CALLING to 97888
This is a free text which will add the service to your account
You should receive the following confirmation text:
Thanks. We’ll add Wi-Fi Calling to your account in the next 24 hours and will let you know when you’re all set up.
If you’d like to discuss this with us, or if you have any other issues, you can find more info here or contact us
Once you receive the confirmation text, switch on Wi-Fi Calling in your settings
Go to Settings, scroll down and choose the Application icon
Choose Phone and scroll down until you see Wi-Fi Calling – select the box beside this option
A pop-up will appear asking you to confirm if you want to enable Wi-Fi Calling – tap OK"

I hope the service is working for you @Ultima357 .

You must have been pleased to receive the message, this is probably being sent out to all PAYG customers who will be able to enjoy using the service.

Again that's a fantastic addition for Payg customers with eligible phone models @Ultima357

Happy days. :Winking_smiley:

@BandofBrothers. Well I've sent the text, got the affirmative response and it's active on my account but still no configuration message so will have to chase them again.

That's awesome news @WelshPaul, I'm glad to see you can stay connected when you're able to reach our network!

If you're still having difficulty connecting through WiFi Calling @Ultima357, pop our Social Media team a message with a link to this thread and your Community ID.

Hi @Mark.

Well I'm still on the case with VF technical support. I have it enabled in my account but still not got the menu item in my phone. It seems that it is a configuration issue that requires VF to install. Now spent over 100mins on the phone to 191 and currently patiently waiting for the solution to arrive. Can't believe I'm the only one in this boat as it's a standard Samsung S8.

Did you power down your handset and restart it after receiving the confirmation text?

I once enabled data barring on my account only to disable it a few months later, data wouldn't work though. Vodafone CS were useless as always, tried rebooting the phone, a resetting etc, only to be told by Vodafone CS that it's active on my account and that it should work. After days of back and forth with Vodafone CS I decided to login to my Vodafone account and try re-enable the data bar, wait 10 minutes then disable it again. To my surprise that fixed it and data has worked ever since. So may try logging in to your Vodafone account and disable WiFi calling and wait a few minutes then re-enable it?

Tried the switch on - off in my account but no difference. Did the phone power off-on too. Still no update from VF either.

Well I finally got there. 😀 Just found that on the pull down menu from the top, second pull down and then next page the WiFi calling option had appeared. It wasn't under the phone - settings option after the above on/off setting on my account and at that time I didn't look at this alternative from the pull down menu. But having found it and switched it on, I checked the phone - settings menu and it is now there as well. So not quite sure if the on / off did it or something else. Not seen any configuration texts, so guessing that maybe the on/off did work. Worth trying if you have this problem.

I don't use WiFi calling myself and tbh, i'd switch networks if the network I was with didn't provide adequate signal. Anyway, glad you got it sorted! 👍
