texting problem

My UK PAYG mobile phone can receive texts from an Italian mobile but won't reply to them.  It just says "not delivered"  even though I'm responding to the same number I've just received the text from.  Can you help please.

Your texts are certainly leaving the UK message centre but not being delivery by the receiving Italian message centre for forwarding onto the recipient. 

The first thing to look at will be your credit balance, as far as is know to send a text to a EU destination will cost 6p per message and you will need the extra credit on your account for the message to be sent.

I would try sending as a new message using +44 dropping the first 0 rather than replying to the conversation and see if that work.  Otherwise, it may be a compatibility issue with the Italian network.

Hi @popinjay 

If the sender also uses these apps it maybe cheaper to send a message via WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger.

Or even email.
