Carphone warehouse and Vodafone porting

Bought an iPhone from Carphone warehouse for my father in law and the number has not been ported across from 02 to Vodafone . After multiple calls / chats, Vodafone tell me that this is because the (online application from) Carphone warehouse has given insufficient details for setting up a Vodafone account and the only solution is to go into a Vodafone store.  An apparently common problem.  This needs sorting.  A hugely frustrating / disappointing intro to Vodafone

Vodafone can only go on the information received from the third party.

This is Carphone's fault they were responsible for setting up the account and submitting the online application to Vodafone with adequate information to port the number across from O2 to the new Vodafone account.  You shouldn't be expected to run around to a Vodafone store to complete Carphone's mistake to get the number ported, if Vodafone are still waiting for the information from Carphone, they may not be able to help.

Having mentioned that, we have had Christmas, New Year followed by a bank holiday and number don't port over a bank holiday or weekend on any network and that may be partly the problem.

Now the holiday period is over, hopefully Carphone will be able to locate the information for forwarding onto Vodafone to get the number ported and you will be able to set up an account.
