Default on account from 2005

Hi all,

I went to get a mortgage recently and got rejected because on my credit rating. Turns out everything is ok apart from a default on my account from Vodafone for £40. I'm really upset as I had this over a decade ago and don't understand why they added the default years later. Surly they can't do this. Over 6 years and 6 months have passed so I can't understand why this would still be on my file. I heard Vodafone are brutal for hitting people on their credit file for small amounts. Any help or advice would be appreciated as this is giving me really bad anxiety.

Many thanks

Hello @JayStrong

I know from my own circumstances how  devastating a default can be on a person's  Credit File.

A default should last 6 years on a file and then drop off.

You could also speak with Experian who'll also be able to advise.

Paying the amount off would change it's status from Outstanding to Settled.

I appreciate the time frame your saying has already elapsed.

I would suggest to contact the Vodafone Social Media Teams via Contact-us-for-account-specific-queries

I'd suggest Twitter.

The Vodafone Social Media Teams have a dedicated Credit File Specialist Team who they can then ask to investigate your case.

The Credit File Specialist Teams are not customer facing so there is no contact information for them.

Also there is no account access assistance via this forum hence why I'm asking you to contact the Vodafone Social Media Teams.

I wish you all the best with this situation.
