New Unlimited plans

Just seen the news about the new unlimited plans at £23/26/30 per month depending on the speed.

If someone who is partway through their contract wanted to move to one of these plans, how would that effect their bill? Presumably it wouldn't be £23/26/30 on top of what they are already paying as that means you would be paying for some data twice (eg on my contract I am paying £36 for the phone and 16GB of data).

Would VF be splitting the bill into X for the phone and Y for the data and changing the Y element to the 23/26/30 then adding the X cost of the phone to make a total bill?

@SimonWilding  From what I have read they are sim only so won’t (at present) be able to migrate with a phone/airtime contract, I think you need to be ready for upgrade or already on a sim only deal.

Hi @SimonWilding

It would be a tariff change, providing you are out of contract Vodafone would change the entire plan.  That would mean you would be charged pro rata for the first month of change to bring you in line with the billing date and would see a credit for line rental paid in advance for the previous tariff.

Vodafone used to make a plan migration charge, not sure if they still do but this will be something Customer Services will be able to answer.

Hi @AnnS yes I get that, but at the moment a plan, say 16GBdata, u/l mins, u/l texts, does not cost the same for every phone, the more expensive the phone the higher the monthly charge.

That means that part of the charge is for the phone and part is for the plan so how much more would my £36/16GB plan on my P20 cost if I wanted to change to the unlimited max plan, presumably it wouldn't be just the £30.00 cost of that plan, that woudl be a very generous deal!

They also appear to be SOHO/SME only at this stage, so lucky them.
