I got disconnected and now want to re-instate my old number. I have checked and the number is not used by anybody else, please could you reinstate my old number?

Account access isn't available via this forum anymore @robehorton1 so you'll need to go through customer services via contact-us or the Vodafone Social Media Teams via Contact-us-for-account-specific-queries to ask that question.

You don't mention the reason for your disconnection, if this was an account issue the maximum period for reconnection is 3 months, if it has been longer than 3 months the number may be anywhere in the system and impossible to locate.
