Hi @Sharonking

The best way to help is to direct you to previous threads to give you all the information needed to stop these dreadful unsolicited messages.  If you have been reverse charged by this company, you have the phone number, and will be able to give them a call to complain and ask for the return of your money.

The most important thing to do now to to log onto your online account and apply the charge to bill bar incoming only will do the trick, you will the still be able to use your phone for any outgoing charge to bill.

@Sharonking Please make sure you text stop as advised or call the company and cancel before you apply the bar @AnnS has mentioned. This bar will prevent any future subscriptions to premium rate services but it won't stop any current subscriptions.

It's also worth checking to see if anything has actually appeared on your account.   A lot of spam texts are sent to random numbers and encourage a response to establish ones that are actually live and can then be traded.   "Thank you for subscribing" looks scary but, if that's all it is, it's best left well alone.

Offerguru' would appear to be the latest in a series of 'Payforit' scams using shortcode 64055. As well as this report, there have also been complaints on GiffGaff and O2.

Unfortunately, Vodafone have a policy of not assisting their members in dealing with these scams, so you are on your own.

PSA have confirms that the 64055 shortcode is the responsibility of:

mGage Europe Limited (trading as mGage)

10th Floor
The Tower Building
11 York Road
London
SE1 7NX
United Kingdom

Tel: 0207 633 5073

email:  customercare<at>mgage.com

You need to ring them on the number provided (you can do this using goodybag minutes). Tell them that you never consented to a subscription, that you want the fake subscription cancelled and a full refund of the money taken. Record the call if possible and ask for confirmation of any agreement to refund in writing.

If refused a refund you can use the Small Claims procedure as described on the website linked below.

You can ask Vodafone to put a 'charge to bill' bar on your account which will stop you being affected by these scams in the future.

Full and detailed advice on dealing with these scams is on the payforitsucks website. It contains detailed advice on how to stop the subscription, obtain a refund and report the matter to the regulator.

Offerguru - An update.

I have had a response from the Phone-paid Services Authority (PSA). These companies are required to register their 'srvices' within 2 days of starting. PSA have confirmed that Offerguru have failed to do this and are therefore in breach of the regulations.

There should be no problem getting a refund if you make it clear that you are aware of this. You should also report your own case to PSA if you haven't already.

Please let me know how you get on with obtaining a refund.
