Vodafone Credit Report Default

Hi,

I am just about to apply for a Mortgage and as a precaution, I decided to do a routine check of my credit report. To my horror Vodafone have applied a default against my report for a handset that I returned within the 14 day cooling off period.

I have all of the paperwork showing the date that the contract was taken out and the date that the contract was returned.

I need Vodafone to act promptly for me here and remove the default immediately. If this default affects my Mortgage application, I will take legal action against Vodafone. This is completely unacceptable...

Hi @richard2017

I appreciate and understand how damaging a default and or marker can be ,and the difficulty in having one removed from a Credit File. It's important to speak with Customer service first via the methods in https://www.vodafone.co.uk/contact-us/ to clear up why this has happened before the Credit File Support Team can help.

Below in Bold is a help guide I have written which explains how to contact Vodafone and which department to ask your case to be referred to - i.e 'Vodafone Credit File Support Team' - and how to add a 'Notice of Correction' via Experian. It is Free to add the Notice of Correction. This gives you the tools to add your own notes up to 200 words on your Credit File to explain why the Default is showing. It would only be worth adding this if you think the default is wrong and shouldn't have been applied.

Please take into consideration that a Default will only be removed if it was reported on your Credit File incorrectly which this sounds like it has.

Did you leave your Direct Debit in place to pay for any allowances used within the Cooling Off Period ?

To Add if a person has spoken to a member of the Credit File Support Team and they have agreed to remove the default then this is usually actioned straightaway. The file will update when the database that Vodafone share with the credit file agencies update.

This normally takes up to 30 working days but can happen quicker.

Unfortunately there is no way to hasten the process up as Vodafone do not have control over the database that is accessed by the credit file agencies.

To add this Community Forum is monitored by Vodafone Teams who will engage with you if they can also help so if you wish to wait then please give them time to catch up with your post.

Hi Gemma please could you help me? I have a default on my file but as far as i am aware i never had this account. I have contacted Vodafone and they told me that they cannot find the account number in question on any of my accounts. I currently have a contract running since August 2017, surely if i had a default for the £677 on my file i wouldnt have got a contract last year? Im going around in circles and desperately need help.
