Vodafone Default on Credit File

I was previously a Vodafone customer and at the end of my contract I wrote to Vodafone informing them of my intention to leave and requesting a PAC code. I assumed that this had been sorted and was the end of my contract, but I was contacted in October 2018 about an outstanding debt on the account. I immediately paid this through 2 direct debit payments however I when i checked my credit file about 6 months ago I saw that my score has changed from excellent to poor and there was a Vodafone default for £82, this is believe has been paid at the time and shouldn't be on my account as a default. I have phoned Vodafone countless times and used the live chat on the website to try and get to the bottom of this and get the default removed but I can't find anyone who is even able to track down my account, let alone explain why I have a default showing on my credit file.

I would be grateful if someone could get in touch with me to help me resolve this issue as it is affecting my ability to obtain a mortgage.

Many thanks!

Hi @blueade

Unfortunately due to security reasons a person cannot cancel a Vodafone Contract via a letter.

The ways to cancel a contract are outlined in cancel-your-account / Stac / Pac / Call.

As there is no account access via this forum please can you contact the Vodafone Social Media Teams via Contact-us-for-account-specific-queries and they'll get this investigated for you.

They also have a dedicated Credit File Specialist Team who can investigate the default however if they find the default warranted as cancellation procedures were not followed the default would remain for 6 years from the default date but would look better if the amount was paid as this would change it from Outstanding to Settled.

I appreciate how damaging a default is from my own personal experiences so I wish you all the best with this situation.
