Welcome to Vodafone Community
My current Vodafone SIM only is due to end shortly.
Carphone Warehouse have a SIM only on vodafone but for £4 per month cheaper after cashback, however how do I get my number transferred to the new sim?
Do I still need to do the convoluted procedure of moving to payg then back?
Any help appreciated! Cheers
To get the number transferred usually means needing to terminate the current contract. This can be done by putting the number on PAYG or porting out to an alternative network and back on the Carphone contract.
I would suggest going the PAC route for an easy quick process, saves waiting for 30 days for the number to move to PAYG and the previous contract will be immediately terminated saving you having to pay for an extra 30 days use. The best way to do this is to text PAC to 65075 to receive the PAC by return text message.
When you have the Carphone contract speak to Vodafone through the customer service channels they may have simplified the number transfer process.
My choice would certainly to have your number moved to a Payg account which takes 30 days so you are sure of retaining the number, and then make the move of the number once your contract via CPW is up and running. Remember your now then a customer of CPW with Vodafone UK providing the connection , allowances and collecting payment.
However just as a thought maybe ring 191 and choose the 'Thinking of leaving' option which gets you through to Vodafone retentions and see if you can broker a deal with them which would stop the need then to go through this process altogether !
I wish you all the best with this situation.
