Why does Vodafone charge for a device after paying in full?

Why does Vodafone charge custeromer for device after contract end date?  Once contract ends, which means they have got all monies for the device and they have no right to charge for the device.  Once such contract ends, they must only charge for the usage but this is not the case with Vodafone.  What is happening??

If you have come to the end of your contract call up and change to a sim only package. This will be much cheaper as you won’t have to pay for a device.

They will I’ll just change your tarrif so you don’t need to be paying but you need to take action.

The phone itself is provided as a perk of a Pay Monthly Contract.

Thus your monthly tariff is paying for your minutes, texts and data allowances.

This is why at the end of a 24 month contract your tariff amount remains the same but instead drops onto a rolling 30 day contract until you upgrade, go to sim only or Payg.

Going to sim only can be a good option if you do not require a new phone again or you buy your own phone.
