Pay monthly

2: Seeker

Why is it cheaper to take out a new vodafone contract with a third party such as carphone warehouse than it is to get an ugrade with Vodafone.  Appears to be stupid business sense creating more work for vodafone whilst paying someone else

Carphone Warehouse give some of the kick back they get from the networks for opening up a contract to the customer.

Also CPW don't have a network to maintain which costs alot of money.

If you call 191 and choose the Thinking of Leaving option and ask for Retentions Department they maybe able to offer a deal.

A person is at a better negotiating stance if at the end of their contract and not at their early upgrade date.

Hi @gavhclark

There is no reason for Carphone being unable to upgrade your current contract but they prefer and even insist on selling a new contract with a new number due to the extra lucrative commission received from the network.

This is going to cause you some problems keeping your present number and you could well end up paying for two contracts for a month before the number moves.

Vodafone are offering loyalty discounts when upgrading and it then down to your negotiating skills.
