2: Seeker

Do you have any plans to release the jelly bean/Emotion UI for the ascend P1, I can download it from Huawei, but I cannot install it because my phone is locked to vodafone...

Hi Pompey0368,

We don't currently release details around firmware testing until we roll out releases. There are lots of factors involved and we don't like to let folk down if a release date slips or gets cancelled all together due to it failing tests.

You can read more about this process here: Firmware Testing Blog.

Cheers, Ben

Could you at least confirm that it is being tested, even if you cannot give a date?

Agree with the previous post, the answer given is a somewhat vague, is this being tested or not??

Hi guys,

As Ben said above, we don’t release any details regarding firmware testing until we roll out releases.

You can find more information in our firmware statement here.

Thanks,

Jenny

Hi Pompey0368,

Unfortunately this isn’t something that we have access to see.

Thanks James. Is there a way that I can unlock the phone to install the update myself? I have an unlocking code, but that is for SIM, and needs an invalid SIM to use it, but I cannot find an invlaid SIM, everyone that I have tried: Orange, T-Mobile, Giff-Gaff, Tesco, Virgin and O2 were all accepted, so it appears to be SIM unloacked, but won't let me do a manual update of the firmware?!

Hi Pompey0368,

This means that the phone is already unlocked and we don’t have the instructions on how to flash the firmware on your phone.

If you do manage to do this please remember that this can invalidate your warranty.

Maybe if Vodafone were a little more customer orientated, people wouldn't need to find alternative sources for updates. Just a thought!

They just give the same scripted unhelpful stock ansewrs everytime, they don't even read or answer your question.

Several months on and still no upgrade for a phone that has an obvious and well documented software fault. Having been a Vodafone customer for several years, the chances of me renewing my contract with Vodafone is absolutely Nil! After sales service from Voda stinks of Sell it and forget it.

Hi Martin15,

It's disappointing you feel this way.

Unfortunately firmware testing/releases isn't something that we have any control over. We obviously want to help with all customer queries but this is one that's out of our hands.

All the best,

Kay

Kay,

Do you know if customer feedback, as gathered from these forums, gets back up the pyramid to management ?

I get the feeling it does not. The forums appear more like a pure Help resource.

Hi steveoutbush,

We're here to provide help first and foremost, but we can also get a good picture of what people are talking about.

We feed back any major issues and customer suggestions we see to the relevant teams to help make sure that everything is looked into.

"We feed back any major issues and customer suggestions we see to the relevant teams to help make sure that everything is looked into"

Yeah right!! How many months has this issue been going on for??? In all that time Vodafone has not even attempted to provide a solution. So which relevant team was this passed to then, the cleaning team or couldn't give a fig team?

Now 7 months on and what a surprise (not) STILL absolutely no offer of support or solution from Vodafone!
