Unlock Sony Experia

I am trying to unlock a Sony Experia that I have had under monthly contract for two years - the contract expired on 09/07, although final billing is not until later this month. by direct debit. I have obtained and entered the NUC code which has been "unsuccessful". I only have two more attempts. I am reasonably sure I have put the NUC number in correctly, and have no wish to fully lock the phone.

What am I supposed to do?
