Can't set up Vodafone SureSignal (Error: 500, 1013 - [Error ref 2n1])

I was given a SureSignal v2 by a friend, but I am unable to set it up. The error I get is in the title - 500, 1013, ref 2n1.

I've seen past threads need the following details, so here they are:

All of the SureSignal's lights - the red bar, the left-hand icon that looks like signal bars and the right-hand phone icon - were flashing. Now, the red bar light is steady on, and all the other lights are steady off.

Download speed: 31.86Mbps

Upload speed: 4.95Mbps

That's what I'm trying to do, but when I register with details that I believe are completely valid, I get this 500, 1013 error.
