Hi there,

I have been trying to set up the latest Sure Signal device on my corporate network and not having much luck with it. I get a falshing power light and and 2 static orange lights.

I have reserved an ip from our DHCP pool and assigned it via its MAC and can see and ping it ok.

I have set up a rule on our Sonicwall NSA E5500 firewall to allow the VSS to any destination using the the TCP & UDP ports mentioned in the other post on this site.

when carrying out a tracert to 212.183.133.177 is get the following results:

Tracing route to cluster4.vap.vodafone.co.uk [212.183.133.177]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1     6 ms     9 ms     6 ms  ser013048.thca.uk.exponential-e.net [109.231.235

A ping test gives me:

0% packet loss

10ms Ping

10ms Jitter

My external IP is 109.231.236.66

Line speeds are

36Mbps Down

30Mbps Up

Please can you advise.

Many thanks.

Hi mattneilson,

Welcome to the forum!

Please can you get back to us with your Sure Signal Serial number and we can check this further for you :Smiling:

Thanks,

Jenny

Hi Jenny,

Thanks for responding.

The serial number is 40124234291

Thanks.

Matt

Hi mattneilson13,

Thanks for the update here.

I believe that the issue that you are seeing is down to the IP address for your company not being on the whitelist and as such a connection is being blocked.

I have requested for this to be amended for you and will update you one this has been completed.

James

Hi James,

Thanks for the update.

Matt

Hi there,

Please can you update date me on what is happening with this issue?

I have left the SS on over the Xmas period hoping that the issue with our IP would be resolved but it is still showing the same problem.

Thanks,

Matt

Good Afternoon mattneilson13,

Please accept my apologies this still hasn't been sorted.

I've chased for an update today, as soon as I receive a reply I'll be back in touch.

Best Wishes,

Kay

I have exactly the same issue - having had a replacement Sure-Signal sent, with IP address on network and portforwarding set up correctly the device will not connect to the Vodafone network.

Sure-Signal/Device Details:

Serial No:  40123619146
Mac address:  0c4c3908841a

My Static IP Address is:  213.123.133.169

My ISP is BT Infinity for Business, and have replaced the BT hub for a LinkSys/Cisco Router.

Have I the same issue where my Static IP isn't on the White-List your (Vodafone) end??!!??

Hi there mark-quiff,

Thanks for your post.

The IP you've supplied is on the white list so that's not the issue.

Could you confirm the external IP is the same as the IP you've already supplied? I need to be sure this isn't the issue and you checking this will help me immensely.

As you are a BT Infinity customer, you will also need to log into your router admin page and select port clamping. Once this has been selected please restart your router and Sure Signal.

Cheers,

LeeH

Having set-up the device on my network, having gone to considerable lengths to attempt to get the hardware to work I’m at a loss as to how to get this box to talk to the outside world.

I run a network which is built on a Microsoft Small Business Sever 2008 platform, and have had to turn off certain services on the server to allow the device to gain an IP address and carry out port-forwarding as set out in this forum/on-line guides.

I am now on my 2nd Sure-Signal, with the first device running successfully for a short period of time with little or no need for the amount of ‘tweaking’ I’ve had to endure to this point.

I’ve swapped out routers, configured the device on its own with no other products/services on the network and still it won’t connect to the Vodafone servers.

I’ve spent hours on hold to Vodafone, and admittedly had more response from this forum, but in terms of support for this device it appears that unless you’re willing to persevere with posting your issues and on-going battles with the troublesome little box here you may as well pack it back up in its box and send it back.

Can someone explain that when even all the ports are forwarded, the VPN is clamped and you can see the Vodafone server via a tracert that this little device will not work??
