Sure Signal V3 and Talktalk Huawei router

My sure signal is not working, and has never worked since I got it. None of the troubleshooting light sequences apply to me. I have the power light on constant, the internet light flashing slowly and the others are just off.

I have assigned the device a static IP and put it in the DMZ (or so I believe) but this has had no effect.

I had exactly the same issues with a previous ISP and router but just gave up in the end.

Hi henerz,

Everything you've supplied looks fine.

I've done a resync for you, please do a reset to make sure this completes;

-Locate the button on the base of the box next to the Ethernet ports.

-Press and hold the button for approximately 30 seconds.

-Once the lights come back on, release the button.

If this still doesn't work can you try the Sure Signal at a different location (friend or family members) so we can determine if it has a fault?

Thanks,

Kay

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I tried to perform a reset, but the thing is now completely dead to the world, no lights whatsoever. I think its faulty.

As I said, I had the same problems with a previous router and ISP (apart from it now being completely dead).

Hi henerz,

If you’re not getting any lights at all it would indicate it’s faulty.

I’d get this sent for repair.

James

Thanks, so I can just take it into a store and they'll send it away for repair/give me a new one?

Hi henerz,

That's right. We treat the Sure Signals just the same as the mobile phones we provide so they are covered by a manufacturers warranty for serviceable repairs or replacements where deemed necessary.

Cheers, Ben

I  have had a major problem with Sure Signal 3 and TalkTalk

  • First my broadband speed was too slow so I upgraded to Fibre

  • Now the speed is fine, but I need a reserved IP address which is not available as a residential customer

  • I am having to upgrade to a Business Fibre contract with TalkTalk just to get the sure signal to work  (maybe)

  • All I wish for is to make and take calls in my home - not a lot to ask in the 21st Century.  2 hours spent speaking to call centres and being bounced around the world between Vodafone and TalkTalk :Sad_face: Poor Poor Service!!!

please can we have a clear article on how to set up the HG633 router to talk to the sure signal. i have spent several months trying to get mine to work, and have had advice  ranging from the excellent, 'you need to open these ports on the router' to it is out of warrantee you need to buy a new one as it is probably broken.

@captain_strobe

You need to make sure all of the following port numbers and IP addresses are forwarded to your Sure Signal's internal IP address. If you need help in doing this, please contact your Internet service provider.

 Ports and Protocols:

  • 50 – TCP/UDP               (All routers)
