Sure signal problem

BSR FEMTO – Power light on remainder light flash from time to time

Serial Number 21221769207

 

MODEM BT Home Hub 2-7P4Z

 

  1. The Sure signal has been working satisfactorily for some years then malfunctioned.
  2. Modem has not been changed nor have the Ethernet connections
  3. Power light and second light remained on with occasional flashing of the fourth light.
  4. After ‘reset’ (see below) Power light on; second light flashes; second light comes on; fourth light flashes; second and fourth lights go off.
  5. Ethernet cable to Modem connected correctly with the Sure Signal Ethernet green light on; flashing yellow light indicating signal to Modem.
  6. Sure Signal reset:

Reset button pressed; four lights come on

Keeping reset button pressed disconnect power for 10 seconds

Keeping reset button pressed reconnect power

Lights come on – power light flashes then second light flashes then third light flashes then fourth light flashes; power comes back on and stays on.

Release reset button

  1. Waiting for 24 hours the appearance of the lights is as in 3, above.
  2. PathPing produces the following:

Hi Nicholas,

Although the power light appears to be indicating that you have power, you almost certainly have a degraded power supply and is not providing sufficient power for the Sure Signal to work.

 

If you require one, replacement power supplies are readily available from Amazon or Ebay and cost around £10-12 inc. delivery.

Thanks; brilliant.  I had a replacement of same voltage, amps etc. to hand. Plugged it in and almost immediately everything working.
