Solution

VSS3 and Virgin Superhub, since plugging in all that happens is internet light flashes.

I bought one of these today and plugged it in.

The red power light came straight on and a few moments later the internet light started to 'flash' slowly.

After an hour I did a reset and waited another two hours, still just flashing, I tried again. Now nearly 6 hours later it's still just flashing slowly.

I did some research and my info is :

Speed Test : 62.13MB/s

Ping Test :  19ms

IP Address : 62.253.21.254

Sure Signal serial is : 40132728714

Any help gratefully received, before I just take it back as a bad job.

I did a Traceroute too :

The exact names of the buttons maybe wrong as I am doing this from memory

Log into the superhub's web page and press the Advanced Settings button in the bottom right

It should ask for a username and password, the defaults should be admin and changeme

Go to Security and Firewall, and there should be VPN Passthrough tick boxes, tick the PPTP and IPSEC ones, then save the config.

Reset the suresignal, and see if it connects.

Those were already set.

Cheers,

Ah, how annoying (I assume having a tick in the box allows the passthrough - some routers need it unticked to allow)

The next stage would be to assign the suresignal a static ip address through the superhub admin pages, and forward various ports to it.

They would be:

Port 50 - TCP/IP
Port 4500 - UDP
Port 500 - UDP
Port 123 - UDP

Port 8 - TCP/IP

Port 1723 - TCP/UDP

Interesting...

Still flashing, but the white light goes out from time to time for a few seconds now.

Oooh - Orange lights!!! Progress... Thanks so far - I'll report back :Smiling:

Mark

Sadly, it just returned to flashing the white internet light again...

Hi there sn0wman,

I've checked and the VSS isn't registered yet.

Please log in to My Vodafone and click the My Sure Signal button in the bottom centre of the page.

Cheers,
