Since joining Vodafone my phone calls suddenly make a scrambling sound (like a tape playing fast) and then the call drops.  I have been with Vodafone for only a couple of weeks and my iPhone SE is about 6 months old and have never had this problem before,  Any ideas/suggestions.

Hi @Wingersiow

May I ask a couple of questions.

  • Does this happen at home or everywhere ?
  • Did you Port to Vodafone from another Network ?
  • Can you try your SIM card in another phone as a process of elimination ?
  • Does this happen to Calls across all Networks and landlines ?
  • Try turning off 3G in the iPhone to force 2G to see if this helps stabilise call quality.
  • Apple Stores have Genius Bars who can run diagnostics on the iPhone.

Check for Mast signal issues via > Here.

Hi @Wingersiow, unfortunately I'm not able to see your answers :Red_Faced:

Please can you try to post your reply again? We'll then be able to assist you further.

Hi,

Thanks for responding, in answer to your questions (although the problem hasn't arisen over the past few calls!):

  • Does this happen at home or everywhere ?
    • It's only happened from my home
  • Did you Port to Vodafone from another Network ?
    • Yes - from BT
  • Can you try your SIM card in another phone as a process of elimination ?
    • Unfortunately not
  • Does this happen to Calls across all Networks and landlines ?
    • I think it's only happened to landline calls
  • Try turning off 3G in the iPhone to force 2G to see if this helps stabilise call quality.
    • I'll give this a go - but it seems ok at the moment
  • Apple Stores have Genius Bars who can run diagnostics on the iPhone.
    • Thanks.

@Wingersiow - Thanks for getting back to us.

Just to clarify a few things, please get back to us with the below answers:

  1. When you’re away from home, are all calls to both mobiles and landlines ok?
  2. If you’re at home and you call a mobile number from your phone, you say it connects ok?
  3. Does this happen for every landline number you call, or just when calling a certain number?

Hi,

In answer to your questions:

    1. When you’re away from home, are all calls to both mobiles and landlines ok?
      1. yes
    2. If you’re at home and you call a mobile number from your phone, you say it connects ok?
      1. yes
    3. Does this happen for every landline number you call, or just when calling a certain number?
      1. no, it apparently happens at random.  It doesn't always happen just every now and then - in fact it hasn't happend for a couple of days now,

Thanks

@Wingersiow Have you continued to receive any problems?
Please let us know :Smiling:

Hi,

Yes, in fact it happened 3 times this afternoon calling a landline - a different number to previous instances. Any ideas? Thanks.

@Wingersiow - This is strange. To eliminate it being a faulty phone, we’ll need you to test your SIM in another one for a few days.

I know you mentioned above that this isn’t possible. Please let us know your nearest Vodafone Store and we can check if they have a loan one in stock.
