Hi I’ve upgraded to iPhone XR but my computer hates it! iTunes won’t connect and I have downloaded the latest version. No error messages just wont connect! Any advice?

Without hands on with your computer and iPhone its difficult to say what's clashing.
Perhaps try a different data cable ?
Clear cookies and history etc to see if that helps.
Can you try a different PC and ensure no security suite is now hindering iTunes.
Take a peek on the Apple Forum and kr MacRumours as there maybe similar threads with help within and or create your own post.
If you have a local Apple Store the Genius Bar will be able to help.
