I phone touch pad not responding to passcode

Hi

can anyone suggest any answer to this.  It will only take one or two of the keypad numbers cannot get the touch screen to accept the numbers.  Have done a hard reset and worked once!

The phone is only 18 months old.

Have been to Vodafone shop today to be told they can't do anything as out of warranty period.  Suggest going to Apple shop ....50 miles from here.  To send for repair they quoted £140.  Or cancel contract which is £100.

Try backing up to iCloud and then performing a restore via iTunes which may help.
