Unlock phone

Tmetcalfe
1: Seeker

My dad's given me his phone and its locked to Vodafone. It's a brand new replacement phone and I would like to unlock it. How do I do it and why does your company make it so difficult !? Using the phone for 30 days proves nothing. Cheers.

Hello @Tmetcalfe you can request the unlock of your device using the online form here:

https://www.vodafone.co.uk/vodafone-uk/forms/unlock-code-request/

If your mobile number is not accepted try your dads as he is the original owner of the device. If you still can not get the form to work then customer service can process the request for you:

Hi @Tmetcalfe

It shouldn’t be difficult by asking the original account holder to fill out the online form which is in the Quick Links at the side of the forum under Unlocking Nuc.

If thats not possible for any reason then using a Vodafone Payg SIM card in the phone for 30 days making calls etc latches the iphones imei number to that new Payg Account.

Then you can request the unlock yourself.

An iPhone is not unlocked via inputting an unlock code but instead is unlocked via Apple and their Database.
Vodafone would email you to confirm it's been requested after accepting your unlock request. (Check Spam Inboxes too)
Apple then can take occasionally approximately up to 30 days sometimes to complete an unlock request made by a Network.
Periodically insert an active Non-Vodafone Sim Card in the iPhone and hook up to iTunes.
From the iPhone 5 onwards there's not normally the need to hook up to iTunes to complete the process.
