Vodafone charges for unlocking iPhone 4s

Hi Guys,

I have been on a pay monthly sim only plan for over 12 months.

When I got my iPhone 4s unlocked Vodafone charged me over £33.32 for the unlocking service! Why have they charged so much? Any ideas?

I thought over 12 months on a monthly plan was free, and even if not then £19.99?

Anyone know how they got to £33.32?

Thanks

I got hold of someone on Live Chat last night and after two attempts (conversations ended early) they found the mistake and corrected it. Cancelled the charge and credited my account.

Thanks Guys.

Hi there

The charge for unlocking your handset is £19.99 so I am not sure where the £33.32 charge came from.  You are correct, if you had the phone on contract for over 12 months, then the unlocking should be free.  This only applies to phones that were originally provided on contract, if it was originally supplied on PAYG, then the £19.99 charge stands regardless of how long you've had the phone.
