Why is my data running out when I’m not using it?

I’ve recently switched to Vodafone from o2 and I only have 1GB of data. I decided to take the 1GB because that’s all I’ve had on my previous iPhones and it was more than enough data even when I’m fully using it but now it runs out within like a week?! I have everything switched off and there is nothing that will be constantly taking the data. If anything, it should take less data than my previous phone on o2. The only reason that i could think is when i’m out i have 2G on all the time but that NEVER in the past years has took data away from me as i always check. Now that seems the only issue that it could be. Does 2G take away data? and if so why has it never took away data before?

Your inbuilt data monitor in the iPhone should give you an idea what's using your data.

Take into account an iphone will use data in the background while your not personally accessing the internet yourself.

This may help a little > Using-more-Mobile-Data-than-usual-My-Guide.

Looking at the preferences of your apps including location apps like weather is a good idea.

Turning Off Mobile Data will stop any usage.

Any data connection wether it be 2g or 3g or 4g will use your data.
