PAYG EUROAM extra topup problems

We are in the EU for 5 weeks and need a EU PAYG extra every 8 days for roaming but twice the amount has been deducted but no service has been activated, they then say that there is no record of the money being taken and take another £10 to sort it out...  it has taken ages on vodafone chat to fix the problem (and they promise extra 4gb as compensation but only put it in your uk allowance which you can't use because you are in Europe !!) waiting to see if our credit is returned within 24 hours like they said.... as this has happened twice for both me and my wife, so not a one off, anyone else had this going on?
