big bundle data not working on an iphone 5

I'm using an iphone 5, with payg big value bundle  inlcuding 500MB of data.  The phone was previously on a Vodafone business contract, and was unlocked by the provider at the end of the contract.

 

I have mobile data and data roaming turned on, but cannot use any data services, eg web browser, email, maps, even in 3G and 4G locations where my partner with a Vodafone business contract phone gets data services without a problem.

 

This has been going on for a few months, at first I thought it was just bad reception, but it's definitely not working like it should.  Any ideas?

Hi

the iPhone 5 will not work on Vodafones 4G frequency. 

 

Can you try texting WEB to 40127 for the settings. 

 

And or manually check them in the iPhone. 

 

From qeeksquad. 

 

Tap Settings.
In the first section tap Mobile Data/Cellular Data.
Tap Mobile Data Network/Cellular Data Network.
Enter the following settings into the onscreen form, without changing any other settings;
Mobile/Cellular Data:
APN - internet (PAYG - pp.vodafone.co.uk)
Username - web (PAYG - wap)
Password - web (PAYG - wap)
Visual Voicemail:
MMS:
APN - internet (PAYG - pp.vodafone.co.uk)
Username - web (PAYG - wap)
Password - web (PAYG - wap)
MMSC - http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy - 212.183.137.12:8799
MMS Max Message Size - 307200
(As a check, the image below shows blue text in the fields you should have completed)
Tap the left arrow at the top three times
Press the home button
On the status bar at the top of the screen, next to the name of your mobile network, you should now see a data connection indicator 4G, 3G, E or GPRS. This means the data connection is live and working.

I texted web to 40127 and installed the profile it sent.  The settings are now as your reply for payg except the MMS APN which is wap.vodafone.co.uk.

 

We have  a personal base station thingammyjig at home and don't see any data reception letters after the signal bars (E, GPRS, etc) when at home, I'll let you know if it is working when I'm out and about.
