After messing about with my M9, I decided to check on battery usage.

Top of the list was Peel smart remote on 21%...

Thing is is that I haven't used the peel software(as yet), any ideas?

Hi and a Warm welcome to the forum.

That's a conundrum. 😁

Is it running in the background ?

Can you close it down if so.

The feature sure looks useful.

It does require a data connection Or wifi connection which may be drawing power.

Are you tempted to utilise it ?

Go into the settings of your device and then into Applications, find Peel Remote and clear both the cache and the data and also uninstall any updates to the app. Give your phone a reboot. That should sort out the issue you're having.

Thanks for the replies.

I've done what was suggested and I'll see how it goes!:robothappy:

I've disabled it too.   I wasn't noticing any increase in battery use, but it was a bit of a data hog (even just idle).

I use the Peel Smart Widget on one of my Home Screens on the M9.

I use it to control both the TV and my VirginMedia TiVo box.

It is one of my favourite apps on the M9

The Widget is not even showing as using any background resources.

Peel Smart has been running for 133+ hours on my Phone and used 15MB of data. (I use it to browse TV guide)

I am using ver. 8.3.2

Make sure you have the latest version installed and that it is set up correctly.

The latest version has a very slick and quick setup menu.

Mine seemed to be using 3 or 4 mb a day, which is not a lot I know, but it was doing it even when it was idle.   I assume it was updating the TV guide.  I've only really glanced at it, but it mainly seems to offer me things I don't want to watch on channels I'm not even sure I have!   If I used it more, would it become more context-sensitive?

If I could find an app that works with my TV (most do), my Humax box (some do) and my aged Pioneer 5.1 system (not found one yet), I'd be the happiest bunny on the planet!

Hello!

I disabled it in the end and my battery life has improved a fair bit!

Peel is a bit of a resource hog, was even top of the list while the phone was in screen off mode

Is the peel remote widget a separate app or part of the same thing?

I'm guessing you had the Notification blind app for peel smart running (all the time)?

The Widget only works when you press on the buttons to do something, so the rest of the time it's dormant.

Open your App drawer and go to the Widgets section, scroll through until you find the Peel widget.

Hope that helps you?
