No Vodafone signal

There has been no signal in and around Oban, Argyll PA34/PA37 since this morning.  All other networks are working.

Re: No Vodafone signal

Hi, I'm sure it's the Oban signal down; lots of people have same problem; I first noticed lack of signal 3Jan2012, mid-morning; wide area without signal, only texts occasionally manage to creep through. Would also like to know when this will be resolved!

Re: No Vodafone signal

Well that's 2 days of no Vodafone signal in Oban. I'm paying nearly £80 a month for this service, between my wife and I, and it's absolutely shocking that it's down for days at a time. What about all the poor businesses who must be losing a fortune in lost work? I hope they have some sort of compensation package in place for people, as the same thing happened last month as well. Is this what we're expected to put up with every time we get stormy weather? It's bad enough that we still don't have a 3G signal for our smart phones yet, when 4G is on the way, and then we get this shambles. Absoultely shocking!

Re: No Vodafone signal

You'll be lucky if you get normal service nevermind compensation for an outage.

Re: No Vodafone signal

Hi Andy

1). Does the issue happen in just one location? NO

2). Does the issue occur if you try your SIM card in a different phone? YES

3). Can you check your coverage here? Please bear in mind that this is only a guideline and can never be 100% accurate, particularly for indoor coverage. GOOD INDOOR COVERAGE (whatever that means)

4). Can you check our Faults Board, which contains all the mast issues we’re aware of. NOT MENTIONED ALTHOUGH OTHERS IN ARGYLL ARE

5). Does this issue happen on 2G/3G or both. To check this, you can amend your phone's network settings, our Help Centre contains all the instructions, just select your model of phone and then select "network".
OTHER MOBILE NETWORKS ARE WORKING BUT NO VODAFONE

6). What is the full postcode of where the issue occurs (if you’re uncomfortable with this appearing on the forum, then please add it to your profile by clicking “My eForum Settings” on the front page and then selecting “Personal Information”
PA34 TO PA37

7). How far you have to travel to get signal. OVER 20 MILES THAT I KNOW OF.

8). Do you get any error messages/tones if you’re having problems with calling/texting NO SIGNAL AVAILABLE PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER

Re: No Vodafone signal

The 10 Billion UK tax dodge has been the last nail in the coffin.

Enjoy the terrible service, I'm cancelling tomorrow.

Re: No Vodafone signal

I am disabled and housebound so I rely on my mobile. When it works Vodafone gives the best coverage where I am but I am seriously considering changing to someone else as they were back up and running 2 hours after the power cut. It is now 2 days after the power cut and still nothing.

Re: No Vodafone signal

I will be cancelling my contract when it expires in a few months. the service is awful & vodafone is more expensive than other providers. Oh and theres the tax dodge too, the country is on its ######, everyone is short of money, people all over the country have underpaid their tax and need to pay it back but vodafone dont need to pay back tax!

Re: No Vodafone signal – none in the Oban area PA34 / PA37 ...

Yup, me too, will cancel and go to O2. Had a friend staying here for the holidays and her iPhone worked like a charm. Maybe not out in the sticks, but out there Vodafone coverage is poor also.
And have made resolution to be less dependent on these gadgets overall – they suck the fun out of our lives and take control in many insidious ways...

Re: No Vodafone signal – none in the Oban area PA34 / PA37 ...

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all of your posts here but we need a FULL postcode so that we can look into this for you. A general area isn’t specific enough for us to find the relevant cell sites that are causing this issue and get them fixed.

Please provide us with a full postcode to investigate this against and we’ll be happy to get things moving again for you.

Thanks

Wayne

Re: No Vodafone signal – none in the Oban area PA34 / PA37 ...

Hi Wayne

My postcode is PA34 5JQ, but that's just a tiny cell in a large area whose postcodes I don't know. You're also asking your customers to provide details that are impossible to supply when one has just one mobile phone. How about talking to your technicians and your phone helpdesk people? They seem to know more!

I'm finding this platform a bit useless, to say the least...

HI guys

Just to say the Vodafone signal has been back up throughout Oban since late afternoon on 6Jan2012. Hope your site is back up too, barkee!

Hi MPJ52

Thank you for your posts and informing us this issue has now been resolved.:smileyhappy:

Hi  barkee

I am sorry to see you are also having signal issues, I can see that the site you refer to is currently on our Faults Board and our engineers are working hard to get this back up and running.

Many Thanks
