No signal PA34 4AL, Oban area

1). Does the issue happen in just one location?  NO - PROBLEM WITHIN OBAN AREA

2). Does the issue occur if you try your SIM card in a different phone? NO - AND OTHER PEOPLE I KNOW ON VODAFONE ALSO HAVE NO SIGNAL

3). Can you check your coverage here? Please bear in mind that this is only a guideline and can never be 100% accurate, particularly for indoor coverage.  YES - USUALLY GET THREE TO FOUR BARS EVERYWHERE IN OBAN.  HOWEVER NO SIGNAL AT ALL SINCE YESTERDAY (3RD) AM.

4). Can you check our Faults Board, which contains all the mast issues we’re aware of.   YES, OBAN PA34 NOT ON THERE YET.

5). Does this issue happen on 2G/3G or both. To check this, you can amend your phone's network settings, our Help Centre contains all the instructions, just select your model of phone and then select "network".  YES

6). What is the full postcode of where the issue occurs (if you’re uncomfortable with this appearing on the forum, then please add it to your profile by clicking “My eForum Settings” on the front page and then selecting “Personal Information”

NO SIGNALWITHIN SEVERAL LOCATIONS I HAVE TRIED IN OBAN e.g. PA34 4AL

7). How far you have to travel to get signal    ABOUT 15-20 MILES

8). Do you get any error messages/tones if you’re having problems with calling/texting    NO SIGNAL THEREFORE NO ERROR MESSAGES!

Re: No signal PA34 4AL, Oban area

When there's no signal, there's no signal, Vodafone! Some of your questions are downright insulting (but I understand the need for some kind of protocol...)
No signal in PA34 5JQ since at least 3Jan2012, am! and the extent of lack of coverage yesterday was all of the Oban area, i.e. PA34 5.. and PA34 4.., and beyond down to Kilmore, PA34 4XR.

I spoke to a Vodafone operator on the phone earlier this afternoon and she told me there was a massive failure throughout a huge area in our parts of Argyll.

It would be interesting to know how much longer this will go on, at least, and have some acknowledgment of it on these pages, too!

Re: Pa34 no signal.

Hi obanite, MPJ52, Davids3031 and shaxi

Thank you for your posts, I understand that a lack of signal can be very frustrating as we rely on our communication devices.

Unfortunately the severe weather conditions have caused many sites to have issues and these can be seen on our Faults Board where we can see a fault in PA34 is known.

Unfortunately it can take time to resolve a site issue, we often have to obtain permission to access the site, then we may need to obtain specialist equipment to reach the affected area before an investigation can begin, after this we may need to order or manufacture parts before we can fit them and test them.

Many Thanks

Re: Wide areas throughout Pa34 / PA37 no signal.

Thanks, DaveCD, for this information. Shame the weather is closing in again and more high winds forecast. I do feel for your engineers!

Re: Wide areas throughout Pa34 / PA37 no signal.

PA39 (ballachulish) nothing for 5 days - drove down your way yesterday thinking surely Oban would be OK.... fat chance. I've just moved from O2 and the whole thing from day 1 has been a disaster.

At least the Oban one is on the faults board... no sign of mine yet. Off to 3 next, they have a signal!

Re: Pa34 no signal – I'm finding the faults board totally useless

Hi DaveCD

Have you had a look at the Vodafone faults board lately? Forgive me for sounding p---ed off, but I really am. It's the least user friendly e-platform I've come across in a long time. All ajumble, no system that I can see except for the most recent input at the top. It's pages and pages and pages.

Here I've collected Scottish Sites Down for just the past couple of days – had to weed out English sites to keep things marginally clear.

How am I to know which Vodafone site is which area?

I hope I'm getting a heap of Brownie points for my pains – what a waste of time this all has been, trying to find out what's wrong with the signal in the Oban area. Are there any signals to be had via Vodafone in Scotland, at all? It seems to me that most of Argyll is down, as is Skye, Lanarkshire, Glasgow, Fife....

And how come there are no updates on some of these entries? How well can we trust the Faults Board at all?

Re: Pa34 no signal – I'm finding the faults board totally useless

What patience you have, and what a list!

Don't forget though, that's just the ones they've 'admitted to' I've had no signal for days, after a 35 minute phone call they agreed it was down, the admin guy on here admitted it was down, but it hasn't made the list yet!!

Re: PA34 no signal – I'm finding the faults board totally useless

Cheers!

I'm happy to say that the signal has now come back (three bars out of four on my wee phone, whatever that means). It will be interesting to see how long it takes for that information to filter through...

Re: PA34 no signal – I'm finding the faults board totally useless

Hi DaveCD

Thanks for your call yesterday; I was delighted to hear that my contributions here have earned me a bonus that will be credited to my Vodafone bill. Very decent! Thank you.
And here's hoping Vodafone service will improve thanks to contributions from your users (I still think we're made to jump through rather too many hoops, but hope this will improve also).

Re: Pa34 no signal – I'm finding the faults board totally useless

Totaly agree with your sentiments Scout.

The feed back from vodaphone as a whole is (shocking) with little or no upates fro angry and frustrated customers.
As with any maintenance operators these days Time spans for repairs and or miantenance are menued and have set time limits.
I have just atken out 2 new Vodaphone conttracts for 24 months and wish i had not now.I am sure many will leave now.
My local Mast in Banchory aberdeenshire has been down now for 5 days wish still no updates.
