Vodafone 360 email service closing

I hope this is the right forum as can't find specific one. Apologies if incorrect.

Hi, I have been advised (26-06-11) by the Vodafone's 2nd line technical support team that the .360.com ISP service is closing sometime very soon....  May be 2 weeks time or maybe upto 3 to 4 months time.  The system servers are blacklisted and Vodafone has made the decision to cease the service...Email messages to all users will be being sent out soon

This leaves me in an awkward position with my existing email account that incidentally was only migrated from the vodafone.net system last year, in that it has just taken me many many months to update systems, services, friends, colleagues with my new email address....and now I will have to start all over again......

How can Vodafone allow a service that is only 1 year old to become so unstable and just pull the plug.... I'm hopping made and am hoping someone can advise on the alternative solution that is being proposed as the guy I spoke to on tech support new of no replacement in the pipeline.

Do I stay or do I go elsewhere...........?  By going elsewhere this will not just be for email - as I will also include me ceasing my mobiles, broadband, suresignal and ceasing my 20 year association with Vodafone......I am very disappointed with this approach as you can tell.

If anyone on this forum has any useful information to relay I would be most appreciative, as I don't want to leave unnecessarily.... only to find out there was an alternative....

Re: Vodafone 360 email service closing

Hi youngda,

I must admit that this is the first that I have heard about this, I have just gone through the last two months of internal communications and there is nothing regarding the Vodafone 360 service being removed.

As you say this is a service that is only in its infancy stage of development and will only grow with time.

I would be interested to know where the second line technical agent got there information from as up to now there has been nothing confirmed regarding this however, if this does change we will announce it on the Vodafone eForum for all of our customers to see and happily answer any questions that anyone has.

Re: Vodafone 360 email service closing

Hi James, thanks for posting a response.  I spoke with a guy named Ahmed in Egypt (UK customer care technical support) on the 26th June.  He assures me notes have been put on my account if you would to take a look - (can you email me and I will give you my mobile number so you can check?)  I would be very interested to hear if I have been paid lip service to get rid of a customer complaint from the system....

Re: Vodafone 360 email service closing

Hi youngda,

This is not a problem at all. :smileywink:

An email is on its way to you now, simply reply with your details and we will be able to take a look at the account and see what notes have been put on there, I have also spoken with a couple of my team as they arrived yesterday morning and they also had not heard about this so it would lead me to believe that the information is false.

However, as you say this was used to divert your complaint from the system can you also let me know exactly what your original issue was?

If this is still ongoing then we can look into this at the same time for you. :smileyhappy:

Re: Vodafone 360 email service closing

The 360 email log in page today (12/08/2011) states "Sorry, you can only use this service if you registered for it before 30 June 2011. "

Vodafone.net closed in a similar way, thus migrating from a good business tool (I could delete voicemail without "listening for 3 seconds") to 360 which offers just a little bit of everything but no substance of anything ie the best of teh worst.

As I still offer 360 as an active email for business use, should I start to migrate away from 360?

Re: Vodafone 360 email service closing

Hi r1chardc

You raise a good point and I can appreciate where your coming from.

All the indications I've had regarding the 360 email service is that Vodafone will be offering a new email solution very shortly. I don't have any details at this moment in time however current 360 email users will most likely be migrated to this solution. I can confirm that the 360 site is closed to new registrations. If you registered before the 30/6/2011, you should still be able to use the service fine. Can you confirm when you signed up for 360?

Thanks

Re: Vodafone 360 email service closing

Hi there BenJ

I have a 360.com email address ( original version ) and I was advised that it was closing, however I was then told that as I have the current 360.com there is no problem.  What I was also advised, was that a slimmed down version would be re - launched for other Vodafone users who have not got a 360.com email address, in other words it would have less of a content ( half of what there is ).  Why are there so many other conflicting versions that various forum members are advised - this is bad.

Please could there be a full and final end to this issue.  Members of staff who give out this information should give exactly the same details.

Thank you.

Re: Vodafone 360 email service closing

Hi there JamesBond,

Many thanks for your questions.

I have no idea why you've been given this information. I've searched the last 2 months of official internal communications and cannot find any evidence to substantiate the previous advisors' claims.

At this time, we don't have any further information regarding the closure of anybody's 360 email service. I expect it will be communicated when we have more concrete information, just as it was communicated when vodafone.net migrated to 360.

Kindest regards,

Lee

Re: Vodafone 360 email delivery failure problem

REFERENCE Re: EFT165 - Your eForum Query [#7419862]

HI AGAIN
RE THE LAST EMAIL I SENT YOU AROUND 11:45AM TODAY I ALSO CC'D IT TO MYSELF AND THAT FAILED TO DELIVER TO ME, I RECEIVED THE BELOW DELIVERY FAILURE MESSAGE. >>>>>>>>>
AS YOU CAN SEE I AM STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM AND YOUR IT DEPARTMENT GUYS HAVE YET TO FIND THE CAUSE AND FIX IT.
MY COLLEAGUE I MENTIONED EARLIER HAS TRIED TO EMAIL ME 12 TIMES TODAY AND HAS RECEIVED 12 FAILURE RESPONSE MESSAGES WHICH HE THEN FORWARDED TO ME AND THESE FOR SOME REASON MANAGE TO GET THROUGH YOUR SERVER. HIS EMAILS DERIVE FROM A LIVE.COM ADDRESS.
PLEASE CAN YOU REPLY AND CONFIRM RECEIPT OF THIS EMAIL, TIME IS NOW FAST RUNNING OUT AND I SHALL BE FORCED TO FIND AN ALTERNATIVE PROVIDER IF YOU CANNOT DEMONSTRATE TO ME THAT YOUR IT DEPARTMENT ARE ACTIVELY TRYING TO FIX THIS. (O2 HAVE QUOTED ME TO MIGRATE MY MOBILES AND BROADBAND TO THEM AND CAN PROVIDE ME WITH AN EMAIL ADDRESS TOO)  MAY I SUGGEST THAT YOUR IT DEPARTMENT GUYS CALL ME TO DISCUSS THE PROBLEM IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET TO THE ROOT CAUSE, AS I MIGHT HAVE THE ANSWERS THEY NEED IF THEY ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS?
I LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR REPLY.
KIND REGARDS

Re: Vodafone 360 email delivery failure problem

Hi youngda

Have you emailed this to ourselves? I haven’t seen this email in our queue. It’s not something we can discuss on the forum.

Thanks

Re: Vodafone 360 email delivery failure problem

So I've got the text stating 360 is closing.
What settings are needed for my Nexus One POP3 accounts in future?

Re: Vodafone 360 email service closing

Hello,

I've just received a text message from Vodafone which tells me that 360 is closing at the end of December this year. I'm not too concerned about saving contacts but 360 is my only e-mail address. Is there a replacement service in the pipeline / in place, please?

Many thanks,

David

Re: Vodafone 360 email service closing

I just got a txt message about this.

I currently use the smtp.360.com server for outbound enail on my phone. It is the only server I have found that enables me to send email on my home wifi network and when out and about.

Will vodafone will offering an alternativen server? The adivce on this forum was to use the 360 server so i hope someone here can help.

Thanks

Re: Vodafone 360 email service closing

I had this problem some time ago and was told to sign up to 360.com and use that as the smtp server when using WAP.

This is working well BUT with 360 now closing I have tried the solution of setting send.vodafone.net as my smtp server for WAP connection as described (no login details, SSL off, port 25) and I get send failed. Swap back to 360 settings and works fine.

Does anyone have vodafoneemail working via vodafone.net?

Re: Vodafone 360 email service closing

I have also just been notified that the 360 email service is closing and this is a real problem since I use this to get SMS notofications to my mobile. But it is also true that Vodafone will need to provide a means to send email over the Vodafone network (not wifi) otherwise the network will be no good for using email unless you are using something like gmail for example.

This has been a problem for Vodafone for a long time insofar as they are not really geared up to support anything other than a basic mobile phone network. There were issues a few months ago with the security certificate having expired.

So we need an answer from Vodafone as soon as possible about an alternative solution and put pressure on them otherwise I will have to look elsewhere.

Re: Vodafone 360 email service closing

I too received a text today saying the 360 service is closing at the end of the year.

I used to use Vodafone.net for outbound email and when that stopped working a while ago I was advised to use the 360 service to send outbound email. Now that is closing too!

I have just called 191 customer service to enquire what SMTP server I should use when the smtp.360.com server closes, but they did not even know 360 was closing! They said I should use a service like Google mail but I have one main email domain address for business and want to retain that as the main address and not have a google style address.

Vodafone need to continue offering an SMTP server for the processing of outbound mail (authenticated to have some traceability). It has worked perfectly for me for years so please get this issue resolved before the 360 service is closed.

Re: Vodafone 360 email service closing

Hi everyone

Quite a few questions here so I'll answer everyone at once:

@ oldfarmergiles, Bradden, tthomas1947, deebee, MartinKee

If you have a non Vodafone email account that only works through our outgoing servers, once 360 closes you will need to set up a new email account with another provider. There are a number of other free popular email services online. You will still be able to access most accounts through your phones web browser.

@ David_gallon

We have no plans announced at this time for a replacement email service.

Thanks

J

Re: Vodafone 360 email service closing

Dear eForum team, like many others it seems I was offered the 360 smtp server because none of my 4 email accounts could send emails from my iphone using the isp smtp settings. Your solution of 'setting up a new email account with another provider' is not practical, and how long before we find that none of them work?
