Hi,

we are travelling to Europe and looking to buy a roaming SIM card in London from Vodafone  to be used in Western Europe .

Just want to find out what the procedure is to obtain such a card ?

and what are the requirements ? What do we need to provide ?

How long will it also take ?

Many thanks

Hi,

Is your phone unlocked to all networks so it'll accept the Vodafone SIM card and other networks SIM cards.

Pay as you go SIM cards are available in store. No Credit Check or ID is required to get one of these.

Vouchers can be bought to top them up. You can't use a non Uk credit card or ATM debit card to top them up.

Some info in > Vodafone Payg Big Value Bundle and Freebie Tariffs.

A Vodafone Highstreet Store will have you set up and running.

Also it maybe beneficial to check that your phones frequencies and bands supports what Vodafone Uk network and other networks both local and foreign uses.

@Gerry99

A couple of other things to consider.

Firstly, it's absolutely essential to ensure that, before you move on from the UK, your SIM card has been unlocked for roaming; otherwise, you could find that the phone doesn't connect to networks outside the UK. The store may be able to do this for you, but you'd also do well to check after a couple of days that there aren't any bars in place; call 191 from the phone, and CS should be able to help you.

Secondly, give consideration to how much use you'll be making, and where. The £30 Big Value Bundle includes a smallish roaming allowance, but you might do better with a smaller value BVB, plus a cash top-up to cover roaming elsewhere in Europe. As you'll see here, roaming charges are very modest for moderate use. But do top up adequately before you leave the UK, as it would be tough to do from elsewhere in Europe without a UK credit/debit card.

Just to be clear, you would be able to use a non-UK credit or debit card in a Vodafone store, just not online.

Thanks, Cheers
