multiple text messages

I've just bought the Nokia Lumia 930 and naturally text all friends and family with my new number only some of them got it up to 4 times. Is there a reason for this because I am not happy with this at the moment. I need a fix.

Has this happened again since this first time?

As you may have had the numbers set up in a group, causing the text to go out to the numbers more than once.
