Suresignal and Asus DSL N55U

I have a Sure Signal v1 and an Asus DSL N55U router. The router is a recent acquisition and the SS worked fine with my old Belkin router. With the Asus, there is no response from the SS. Anyone had a similar experience? I've seen somwething about enabling/disabling WAN passthrough, but this has had no effect. It should work but for the life of me I can't understand why it won't. I've tried Vodafone phone support and he was as puzzled as I was. The router has the latest firmware. It seems to be a common problem - anyone had any luck? Would really appreciate some help.

And while I have your attention, what does it mean when the fourth led (the one with the tick) on a Sure Signal v1 flashes from time to time? I can't find any reference to this.

@julianhiorns I assume you've enabled uPnP and reset the VSS to see if it configures itself again? If not i'd give that a try.

 

If that still doesn't work try manually setting up port forwarding, info on this page (note: that's a 3rd party site, nothing to do with Vodafone)

Thanks, yes, uPnP is enabled. I'll try port forwarding later today.

OK, have opened the port on the Asus as instructed but there is no change. I still just get the occasional flashing of the fourth led.

Please take a look at our Sure Signal Troubleshooting thread. If this doesn’t resolve your query, please post your reply either below, or in the relevant thread, together with the details requested, including the following information:

 

  • The Sure Signal Serial number
  • The lights you're seeing on the Sure Signal
  • The results of a traceroute

VSS Traceroute command

 

    • On a PC:
    • Click on Start and select Run
    • Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
    • A black box will appear
    • In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter
    • Paste the output of this command into your reply
