Suresignal and Asus DSL N55U

I have a Sure Signal v1 and an Asus DSL N55U router. The router is a recent acquisition and the SS worked fine with my old Belkin router. With the Asus, there is no response from the SS. Anyone had a similar experience? I've seen somwething about enabling/disabling WAN passthrough, but this has had no effect. It should work but for the life of me I can't understand why it won't. I've tried Vodafone phone support and he was as puzzled as I was. The router has the latest firmware. It seems to be a common problem - anyone had any luck? Would really appreciate some help.

Just posting a follow-up since I had problems posting the last message. It would post but then disappear on revisiting the page.

@julianhiorns,

Everything posted looks fine and the lights you're seeing indicate the Sure Signal is configuring .

If this continues, please test the SureSignal at another location such as a friend or family members (preferably with a different ISP).

I've changed back to the old (Belkin) router and the SS is now configured and working, passing text messages etc.

Re garding my previous post, this doean't mean my problem is solved. I would really like to use the Asus router if I can get the SS to work with it!

Assuming all the port forwarding is set up correctly on the Asus router I can't think of any reason the VSS shouldn't be working. 😞

Is there a way of testing that the port forwarding is working?

@julianhiorns There are some online tools that will tell you if a required port is open on your router. Doesn't ncessarily mean it's forwarding to the correct place though...

I've tried this site:

http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/

but it is telling me that all ports are closed. I also tried opening port 80 but to no avail. I turned off the router firewall to no effect (it's back on now!). What else could be blocking the ports?

And in the hope it sparks something, I am attaching a snapshot of the port forwarding window.

@julianhiorns Other than the online tools kindly mentioned by @Nabs, we arn't aware of anything else that could potentially be blocking your Asus router from working.

It may be worth contacting Asus directly to see if there's a more advanced option to configure port-forwarding within the router settings.
