Smart prime 7 latest android verion

What is latest version of android for smart prime 7 phone? Mine still has v6.0.1! But says 'no updates available'.

(I ask because Android versions before v7.1.1 will not support secure websites after Jan 2021.)

According to gsmarena, this device first appeared in 2016.   I suspect Android 6 is as far as it's going to get (I have an HTC M8 from the same time that's in a similar situation).  Devices usually only get updates for a maximum of two years - after that there are often hardware issues with later versions.

Many thanks for the reply - yeah, that is as I suspected. Not very good though; just one year support ! Apparently there are work-arounds, so may get a bit longer out of the phone - still working ok for (minimal) that I need.

I'm slightly surprised that the device was still available 4 years after it launched, but it's possible.   I have a Huawei tablet that was bought a couple of years ago with Android 6 and has never received an update.   I suspect it was already quite an old model and, to be fair, it was very cheap.

The general rule I've taken from that is that, if a device comes with an OS version more than 2 years old, it's probably stuck with it.
