Hi I Just joined voda and among the many limitations found strangest andoften reported but not solved is ability to access internet via a TP Link wifi extender.

Connects fine to router but internet access denied. This is a piece of hardware thatwas fine with both BT and Virgin in the past.

Found numerous reports but no solutions on this forum does this mean that voda are controlling what cab access internet via their router and could lead to potential problems re smart home products via voda in the future.

Few weeks in and regretting move to voda....

Model numbers for both the VF router and the TP-Link extender might help with some of the specifics here.  What I would say is that you often need to be a complete pedant when settings these up.

A specific problem with the VF router:  Only press the WPS button momentarily, a short press turns on WPS pairing, a long press turns off the router WiFi!

Thanks for response, Router THG 3000 new gigfast. TP Link is TL-WA850RE (UK)

Tried short press on WPS button after resetting TP link, no joy connects to router but no internet

Can't, unfortunately, help any further, as the VF router here (in it's box in a cupboard) is the HHG2500 (VOX2.5) and the extender is not one that I've set up either here or anywhere else (and am not able to borrow that particular item either).

Best I can do is point you at https://community.bt.com/t5/Archive-Staging/TP-Link-WA850RE-problem/td-p/923716/page/2 where it seems you are not the first to have this issue!

Is the VF router definitely providing the extender with an ip? Might be worth setting this manually in the extender if you have this option.

This appears to be design issue with the THG3000 Vodafone router, tried both TP link and Netgear extenders, that worked fine on my prior suppliers router. After spending a few hours on the vodafone tech chat line, tweaking various settings, they appear to have no answer to the problem. Finally gave up and put the required extension on a powerline connection, up and running in minutes - problem solved !.

Vodafone get your act together admit you have an issue and fix it!

Hi, I have the same issue of range with the THG3000.  Which brand and model of powerline adapters did you use ?

I don't want to buy anything which might not be compatible with that rooter !

The power line network runs from the Ethernet port on the router, and is independent of which router. My Netgear network is running on powerline AV200 standard, but current A/V standards are running at much higher throughput. There are several suppliers in the market, Netgear is pretty solid and would probably still be my preference.

Hope this helps

Do a factory reset of the extender by pushing the pin into the reset button for 15 secs.

Then select the 'netgear-ext' wifi

Then enter your netgear products IP. mine was 192.168.1.250  yours could be different.

You are then taken to a netgear site to sign up, follow the steps and soon your extender will be setup as expected

Many users complain that they are facing problems with wifi connection "internet access denied". I've also faced these kinds of problems before and then found how to get the best wifi extenders to get improvised performance
