Hi, I was with Vodafone Broadband up until 2 years ago, I moved to NOW Broadband and am now thinking of returning to Vodafone. The one sticking point is that when I go to this website https://www.vodafone.co.uk/broadband , enter my current address and say I want to keep my existing landline number, this message appears...
Unfortunately we're unable to port your landline number
It may be because the landline number you've entered doesn't match the selected address, or because you're moving to an area with a different dialing code. You can go back and edit your details if they're incorrect - or continue with a new landline number free of charge
This surely can't be the case as I've had the same landline number for many years, it is definitely associated with my address and I am not moving house. Over the years it has also been successfully ported 4 times from BT to TalkTalk to Vodafone and most recently NOW. I'd be extremely grateful if someone could advise how I can order my Broadband online with Vodafone and also keep my number.
PS - I have already spoken to Customer Services on the Broadband team who told me it wasn't possible to port my number but weren't able to explain why so it's possible they were just looking at their computer which is linked to the same database that my quote was.
Thanks

If you are now on Now, make sure you diarise the end of your 1 year contract as, unless you re-contract/change ISP again, it goes up to £43.00 per month!!

Also have this exact issue. Rang sales number to be told "I don't know why but sometimes you just can't keep your number". Erm, no. I can keep my number with every other firm that's using Openreach network. I recall a couple of years ago looking to join Vodaphone and having a different website issue that made me go with another firm. Clearly bugs with the website aren't reported by call centre staff, forum admins etc. Seems to be a bit of shambles really. This is clearly a widespread issue, those bothering to register and report on here will be a fraction of those just leaving the site.

Same problem here, will not switch until this is solve by Vodafone

That would explain it, but would be useful if call center staff had given me that explanation.

Same issue has arisen with me, with a switch from BT to Vodafone. All OpenReach, so that's not my issue. After appearing to be able to order retention of landline number, I was given a new one when the service activated. I called Vodafone and was promised that the issue would be solved within 5 days. 10 days later, nothing, and the different adviser today tells me it "isn't possible". Yet Ofcom and OpenReach indicate it should be possible. It's Vodafone's system or technical issues that are preventing it, for sure. I've had the landline number for 26 years and it's everywhere, so switching it is no small thing. So far the Vodafone broadband seems fine, but the landline issue is nearly a deal-breaker for me (and would have been, if I had known it in advance).

Might be a bit late , but it is possible to have your own number back because it happened to us a few years back with Vodafone. It did take some shouting and screaming though also it help that my wife (who did the shouting and screaming) work for Virgin in there port out department many years ago so had some knowledge of the system.
Also having the porting issue with Vodafone who I left(only because they couldn't do FTTP even though they supplied a neighbour and Sky could) 18 months ago and went to Sky porting my number no problem. However it seems like I can't port my number back again.
They basically seem to be a shambles but a cheap shambles so probably why they still have customers.

That's the only reason I'm still here.🤣

Yes indeed I guess they are one of the cheapest so why they can afford to be a mess as talk talk or Tiscali years ago…
