Welcome to Vodafone Community
Currently looking at getting the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. I would also like to join Vodafone. I have two questions:
1) Will I get access to 4G calling and Wifi calling if I purchase the device directly from Vodafone?
2) Will I get access to 4G calling and Wifi calling if I purchase the device directly from somewhere else but take out a contract with Vodafone?
I have already checked out both of the following pages:
Neither of them mention the Huawei Mate 20 Pro (which seems a bit crazy as it's now one of Vodafone's flagship devices), and I'm not sure how to interpret that. Has Vodafone just forgotten to add anything about this device to those two pages? Or are they slow updating it? Or is the act of omission a deliberate statement of non-compatibility?
Sorry @Natasha, this thread is about the Huawei Mate 20 Pro: https://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/contracts-and-deals/huawei-mate-20-pro/sku97951
You've responded (and linked to another thread) about the P20 Pro, which is a different, older device. We already know that the P20 Pro supports Wifi calling and 4G calling because it's listed on these pages:
The Mate 20 Pro, however, isn't listed there yet (despite being Vodafone's top Android phone right now!). So my question still stands. Grateful if you can find out from someone who does know.
@Gemma, thanks. Seems massively surprisingly to not support that feature given that:
1. It's Vodafone's top Android device at the moment (alongside the Pixel 3)
2. Vodafone supports Wifi calling on all other Huawei ones: P 10, P10 Plus, Smart Mate 10 Pro, P Smart, P20 Lite, P20, P20 Pro
Is this is a permanent decision that Vodafone won't support it? Or is it that Vodafone is working on supporting it and hasn't managed it yet?
@haroon1984 I've just heard back from the team which @Gemma raised this query to. They've confirmed the Mate 20 Pro is compatible with Wi-Fi Calling. Devices purchased from a Vodafone store and open market devices will also be Vodafone Wi-Fi compatible (based on this being a function that’s possible on the phone/shows on our list of available devices).
Our online list will be updated soon to include the new devices 🙂
Some people on other networks were given exactly the same reassurances, only to find out it didn't work after purchase. Can you confirm when that list will be updated please?
