@Guyliddell "enhancement request" is a phrase not well understood by the company.

I don't understand it either. Do you have any idea what it means?

@Jayach When I was working in IT it was a request to add or alter the functionality of a system or program. Such requests usually went through a selection process and if approved given a target delivery time.

But this all depended on who was the owner of the system rather than who was the user/consumer. As I see it with VF they do not own the router as such but depend on a third party supplier. For example, if you look at epos terminals, that's check out tills in a store, they are running the same software with a custom skin to identify the brand. You could see the same workflow and features on the tills of different supermarkets.

Hi Jayach:

Cynric's interpretation is correct (I too have had a career in IT) and I'd be surprised if VF weren't familiar with the term.

I'm sure Cynric is also correct that VF don't manufacture the boosters but contract with a third party.  They are however in a position to request the third party to modify the product or to amend the operating software themselves.  As we can see from looking at the settings on the hub for example, the software restricts us from accessing all of the possible settings, presumably to avoid creating support issues for VF if changed by users.

So, I'm asking VF to consider amending the present setting to switch off the LED for just the hub to also switch off the LED on any connected boosters in any future software release.

I was also in I.T. until I retired in 2009. There they were referred to as RFC's (request for change). And yes, they took a long time to be actioned.

Ah yes, all that PRINCE2 nomenclature!

I suspect VF, and they are not alone in this, dumb down the router to reduce the number of calls to the helpline and by doing that save money.

Yes, that's the point I made to @Jayach as above.  Frustrating as I'd really like to move to other Wi-Fi channels to reduce congestion but there's no setting available to do this.  The only option is a third-party router, which gives that flexibility but of course VF don't have the same responsibility for third-party products as they do for their own supplied equipment.

@Guyliddell You don't need a third party router, an access point device should get you alternative channels.

Hum, I have 5 VF supplied super wifi boosters connected to the VF Ultra Hub already!  Any more network devices and I won't be able to pay the electricity bill lol
