Before accepting an upgrade offer I searched here and on the web but found few details on the new pro router. The little I did find implied the advanced settings were limited. Broadband support assured me that it had the same as the current router (I saved the online chats just in case).
Set it up yesterday for the hub, booster and 5G mobile backup modem which went OK. Tested that a phone worked on the hub VoIP.
The advanced settings are available on the app and from a web browser. It mostly does have the same settings and I could set the DNS for pi-hole which was my main concern.
You can't alter the wi-fi settings except:
In case your device struggles to connect to the Main Wi-Fi, you can enable Compatibility Mode:
1. Main Wi-Fi:
• Same SSID and Password
• Supports 2.4GHz / 5GHz
• Security WPA2
2. Premium Wi-Fi:
• New Premium SSID
• Supports 2.4GHz / 5GHz / 6GHz
• Security WPA3
I left all the settings on default to start, only changed the SSID and passwords back to the THG3000g router settings, the only issue I had was with Sonos (as usual). Hive, Amazon Firestick worked with no input. On Wi-Fi close to the router the internet speed is up from 46 to 51 but the Streaming - tbbx1 test on the thinkbroadband speed test was more than twice as fast as before, though I don't really know what that particular test means.
I had 3 BT Whole Home Wi-Fi disks before, the single Pro Booster was enough to replace them with no drop in speed in the house, not so great in the garden. The router Wi-Fi alone has better range than the old grey hub.
It only has 2 LAN ports, one usb-c and one usb-a port. A 32GB usb-c stick with with music (exfat, SAMBA setting) in the usb-a port (with a converter) was immediately available in Windows and could be added to Sonos which I could never get to work with the old hub. The usb-c port is used by the 5G backup modem.
Hope this helps anyone looking to upgrade.

What on earth is a Premium SSID?
*Very tempted to switch to the current beta firmware on the Asus GT-AX6000 as it looks VERY interesting...

I know, right? It's what vodafone calls wifi with 6Ghz. It's total nonsense made to make the product look special.
From what I'm reading I'm glad I didn't upgrade just to test the router - what a let-down.
I'm looking around now for a pdf of the instructions, just to see what other twaddle is going on.
I thought 388.2 was still in alpha(?).

It looks to me as if Premium is 2.4Ghz/5Ghx/6Ghz with WPA3, and Main is what we expect from AC, i.e. 2.4Ghz/5Ghz WPA 2.
But who knows?

I can't find a full manual for the pro II router. Just like with the release of the thg3000 the only thing I can find is the quick setup quide 😕
One thing I have found is that there is a ridiculously short timeout in the settings being reported on other forums. For example, when setting dhcp reservations there's only time to do one or two before timeout (depending on your typing speed). There's no warning either, just a blue spinning circle of death.

Hmm, I guess having different SSIDs on the same bands for WPA2 and WPA3 security would solve the problem seen on many routers of the WPA2/WPA3 combo mode some devices have encountered.
* @Ripshod there's actually a new early Beta firmware from Asus for the GT-AX6000 that implements previously unseen AsusWRT functions.
