New pay monthly sim but no service

I bought a new pay monthly contract via carphone warehouse. When buying the contract with them I also requested carphone warehouse to port my old number from o2 to my new vodafone contract. I have recieved the phone and sim on Friday but this sim has no temporary number and I currently have no service. 

carphone warehouse told me the port in will happen on Monday but Is there any way to get service on my vodafone sim while that happens ?

The service will start when the number ports @Msk2000 .

Until the number moves you shouldn't be left without any service and will still be able to use your O2 SIM.  When the number has moved you will receive a text notification, usually a quick turn off and back on solves any porting issues.
