hi, both my mum and I upgraded our iphones to the 5s on sat 19th sept. we should both be able to recieve 4G, however I can recieve 4G but my mums phone cant, we are both on vodafone and when we are sitting next to each other i can recieve 4G but mum still can not????? I have checked in carrier and the options are on 4G?? any ideas please guys, I get no sense when I ring Vodafone

On the iPhone hold down the Sleep/Wake Button and Home button together until the Apple Logo shows. Then On seeing this Apple Logo release both buttons ,and the iPhone will reset , which has been known to clear most glitches.
Try
Settings -> General-> Reset -> Reset All Settings.

Perhaps swap around SIM cards to see what happens.
Options......
Contact customer servives on 191 or Live chat from a computer to check the account.
A Vodafone shop can perform a sim swap which moves the number and tariff to a new SIM card.
A follow up option is ask an store to check out the iPhone via a https://www.apple.com/uk/retail/geniusbar/ appointment if you have one local.

Can your mum's phone pick up 4G if you swap over your sims?
