Stories being posted online tonight that if you order from a carrier the S7 / Edge will automatically be locked to the first network it is registered to.
That is not good as I travel abroad and use local SIM cards in some countries.
If this is genuinely the case can I cancel my pre-order to buy SIM free?

Although this technique appears to be new, you should assume that any phone you buy through a network will be locked to that network. The days when phones were unlocked to all networks are passed.
If you want an unlocked phone buy phone directly from the manufacturer and get a sim only contract.

Managed to cancel my pre-order no problem at all. Guy I called at CS was very helpful indeed. Will be interesting to see what happens with the auto SIM lock.

Do you have any idea how this works?
Are both sims active at the same time?
95% of the time I am happy with the coverage of Vodafone, but whenever I take the family camping it is always 3 or EE that have the better internet signal, therefore a phone where I can switch to a rival network with some PAYG data would be ideal, even better if I can keep my primary phone number live the whole time.

Usually dual sims can be actrive at the same time although only one can be actually used at a time.
However if the phone is going to be network locked both sims would be locked to Vodafone.

I appreciate only 1 can be used at a time, but is it possible turn the data off on one and the calls off on the other? this would save me a heck of a lot of bother, I usually have to take 2 phones with me when ever we end up in the sticks......sacrificing a memory card for a few days is a small price to pay for this convinence.
The 20gb of data for £20 deal that VF are offering right now is starting to look a lot more attrative if I buy a sim free.
