I have pay as you go mobile broadband and have been trying to remove the content control from my account online. However, I keep coming up against the message, "Unfortunately, your request cannot be processed."
I read in another post that this has been broken for some time. In fact, there is a post from a moderator, dated 06-06-2009, which states, "We are in the process of upgrading the My Account section of the website and so some current features are being affected. It'll be back up and running as soon as possible."
I emailed Vodafone Customer Services stating that I could not remove content control online, only to be told that I can now remove content control online. It's still not working.
This is incredibly poor service from a company that writes on its history page, "The Vodafone story is one of investment, innovation and award-winning customer service."
Is this customer service now only part of the company's history?
It's a shame really, because I have no other problems with the service.

You can do it "online" but only by registering a credit/debit card for top-ups
Or go to a Vodafone shop with ID.
Calling 191 with credit card details to verify your age will also work.
You are correct, a chunk of the website doesn't seem to work.

Thanks for your reply. I have registered a credit card, but it has made no difference. Fortunately, I'm on pay as you go, so I'll be able to switch to a company that respects its customers enough to keep its website working.

...by the way I just registered my new PAYG SIM to my credit card and I got into Surreyguns website (which was restricted yesterday) within a minute of registering. So under normal circumstancec a properly registered PAYG account, with just one dongle registered to it, will remove content control by registering a credit card to the number. The correct restriction message is shown below. Is that what you got?.

Thanks for your help. I still can't remove the content control despite having registered a credit card. For now I can bypass the control using another method. Fortunately, I don't have to do this too often.
I hope that eventually Vodafone come to their senses and leave content control to the user. I'd be happy for them to ask for proof of age when a product or service is purchased. After that, the onus should be on the user.
As to the absurdity of the current method of content control, I can view the Waitrose Wine Direct site, but not the Oddbins site. I don't think Oddbins will be too happy that Vodafone is effectively giving one of their competitors a commercial advantage.
Oh well, rant over. Again, thanks for your help.
