Back in 2011 I left Vodafone. My account pretty much spotless in terms of payments. Or so I thought,
This week I started applying for a mortgage, I had a credit check done and it has a terrible score, I later learn it's because for years, unbeknown to me I have had £13 oustanding. I've looked around and have seen that this is a closing fee? I have never had any contact about it. I closed this account a long time ago, I cannot even find records of this account. Is there anything I can do?

Hi @Mathulu
Sometimes situations like this can occur because the account holder has closed down the direct debit thinking all is paid. It's suggested not to do this until a £0 bill and sorry your leaving letter has been received. Did you get these at all ?
We have a Vodafone Customer Services Team here who read all posts so please hang in there until they catch up with yours.

Hi, Thanks for the reply.
No I did not recieve anything in regards to paperwork.
As luck would have it I have managed to find out my account number and old telphone number for this account.
I would guess this was something to do with a puk code? I have never been asked to pay for anything as I left.
I would have paid the money no problem if i'd known.

have you checked your credit file and whether it is still with vodafone or whether it has been sold on to lowells, and what date is the default on your file. I only ask as if it has been sold onto lowells you have to watch em like a hawk, They tried this line on me and I ended up by having to defend myself against a ccj which really kills your credit file. Thankfully I managed to defend this and got it discontinued.
The dates on the file are important as it will tell you when it is due to fall off.
Hope you get this sorted. to lose out on a mortgage for 13 quid is stupid.

there is noddle which is free, call credit (unsure if this is a pay one)
and clear score which is also free.
sounds as if this has not been sold to lowells so good there, best course also is to go direct to directors office on 01635 693 288.
hopefully you can get this sorted.
