Dongle And Updating Norton

Hi
Im new here and have had my dongle since august. Not used since then as i havent been at college till now (block release)
Ive tried to connect to the internet (which the dongle does fine) and can browse ebay/google etc ok.
Ive tried to update my virus definitions on Norton, but when it tries to connect to live update the 'kbs' drops from 3.7/4.9 or whatever its at at the time.....to 0 kbs and stays there.....and norton says it cannot connect due to an internet connection problem!!!???
The little blue light on my dongle ten goes off of goes from on to flashing.
This can happen when the dongle is showing 'poor' connection and when its showing a 'very good' connection and happens no matter how high up in my house i am or whether im outside??!!

Am i in the wrong area of the country?
Am i in a bad spot?
Is it my laptop?
Is it my norton?
Is it me?
HELP!!

Please tell me i dont have to be resolved to go to those IDIOTS at PCWorld who look at you like ...well...like a piece of...

Welcome to the eForum :)

The answer to your question will only become evident if you do the following.

Shut down the Vodafone software and remove the usb modem.
Reboot and BEFORE you plug in the dongle...disconnect Norton.
Plug the usb in and load up your broswer and do a simple google search etc.

If all ok so far, then turn Norton on and if the world goes haywire then you know the answer...Norton.

So as I can check your area , just to be on the safe side, please post your postcode and model of usb you have.
