I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems here.
I doubt very much that the software will need to be updated. The software is just a connection manager so shouldn't in anyway affect the speeds you are getting. This sounds like a network issue and so you will need to get in contact with the Spanish network and ask them to investigate. Sorry about that, I wish there was something we could do to help.
