So Google WiFi is coming on April the 6th. How do I go about using this exciting technology when Vodafone don't let you use any other equipment?

From their website

Do I need a modem?

Google Wifi replaces your existing router. If you have a modem + router combo from your Internet service provider, your main Google Wifi point will connect to that device, and you will have to turn off its Wi-Fi functionality.

Looks like you can use it to extend you own - just like you would with any additional AP you were to purchase to extend range, or replace the wifi rafio on your VF Connect router.

Sounds like it is making a mesh, which is what sky was playing with around their Q device(s)

Worth keeping an eye on if you need the additional ooomph for WiFi.

Might solve my WiFi issues with the current router fingers crossed.

Ideally I'd like to replace it completely but until they let us have our pppoe passwords i guess that won't be possible 😞

Have I missed something obvious with this... Is it not just a router controlled by a smartphone app?

It creates a mesh WiFi network which is much more reliable and can handle many more connections than normal WiFi extenders can manage.

@sat505 I've currently got 3 AP's, 1 located in my hallway, 1 in an upstairs cupboard and the last in the garage all connected to my router which goes out to the internet.
I'm intrigued to know if I would be better off ditching these and going for Google Wi-Fi?
Google's system certainly looks visually more appealing but I'm not sure whether a mesh wifi system would perform better.

I've got a similar set up and I presume a mesh wifi setup would be better. The reviews are good for mesh setups but they are significantly more expensive so this Google system looks to be good value. Linksys do a mesh wifi set up too (the Velop) but it's  £500 on Amazon!
